When my cancer came back for round three, I realized that it could be “three strikes and you’re out” or “third time is a charm”; I decided to choose the latter and do things differently this time. I talked to a man who is the “go to” guy for alternative treatments, Ralph Moss. He told me, one of the best cancer treatment centers is ten miles from me called The Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment.

Two years ago in February, I entered the Block Center with Stage IV breast cancer. When I had a PET scan at the beginning of April, I was NED (no evidence of disease) and have remained so. I really believe that the dietary plan suggested by a Block Center registered dietitian, along with supplements, and my monthly meds– Ibrance and Faslodex–have helped me to remain NED.

Why did I choose The Block Center for my care? The atmosphere they have created at the clinic is so NOT assembly-line cancer treatment. I like receiving my treatment in a beautiful spa-like setting where nature pours in through the windows. I like being offered recipes to accommodate my dietary and lifestyle changes. I like that it’s not cold and clinical. Don’t get me wrong; it is very professional and they do not leave a stone unturned.

I love my nurses, oncologists, Dr. Keith Block and the entire supportive team working at the center. This is a caring group of individuals, who are my cheerleaders as I cross the finish line each month. Most importantly, they listen to me. They encourage my participation and feedback regarding my own healing. I feel like a partner in health with the medical team at The Block Center.
